It happened on a Sunday

A long time ago, in a land far away,
a man named Jesus rode into town on a donkey.

Some of the people in the town were extremely happy that he was there, and they threw their coats on the ground and waved branches as he rode by, shouting,

"Hosana! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"

They raised their hands and continued shouting praises as He rode by.

But not all of the people were glad He was there.
Some of them simply stood and watched.

 And waited.

Jesus spent the next few days teaching the people of this town about His Father in Heaven. He talked to large crowds and He talked to small crowds. He taught the people until the time came one night for them to have a very important supper.

He gathered with his 12 closest friends and they ate bread together,

and also drank together.

After supper, Jesus asked a few of his friends to go with Him to pray.
It was late, and they were all tired, but Jesus had a lot on His mind and needed to talk to God.

Soon, Jesus friends that had gone with Him fell fast asleep, and Jesus was left alone.

Praying.

One of Jesus friends brought some bad guys into the garden as He prayed.
They came to arrest Him, even though he'd never done anything wrong.

They accused Jesus of telling lies because they did not believe Him to be the Son of God.

They sentenced Him to death.

They beat Him.

Spit on Him.

Laughed at Him.

They found vines full of thorns, made a crown out of them, and placed it on His head.

They made Him climb a hill,
carrying a cross on His back.

They drove huge spikes into His arms to hold Him on that cross.

A few of the bad guys even fought over the robe He'd been wearing.

They pierced His side with a spear, causing blood and water to pour out.

Jesus died on that cross.

A man named Joseph took Jesus body down from the cross,
wrapped it in white cloth,

and with the help of some friends,
he carried Jesus body to a tomb.
They placed Him inside,

and rolled a large stone in front of the entrance.

The next morning, some girls were going to the tomb to place perfumes around Jesus body. As they came to the entrance where the stone should be, they realized it had been moved.

An angel was there instead.

They were scared, but the angel told them not to be afraid-

they were just looking for Jesus in the wrong place.

"He's not here- He's alive!

Now go! Go tell His friends that Jesus is alive.
He rose from the dead, just like He said He would."

And those girls?

Well, they ran.

They ran because they had such good news to share.

They ran as fast as their feet would go.

They ran because on Sunday,

Jesus rose from the dead.

And that, my friends, is news worth sharing.

Sometimes I get a wild hair

First off, before I explain the title, I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had lots of family time, complete with a huge egg hunt, hearing the Easter story (the REAL one), seeing the story acted out, a bunny made of bread, and a dip in the pool. More on our weekend tomorrow...

Today?
Today is about wild hairs.
Do you ever have the urge to do something a little crazy?
Something that maybe you've been thinking about for a while and finally you just couldn't wait another minute to see it through?
That was me, last night...

My bedroom went from this-

to this-

That's right.
I moved the furniture.
By myself.
I started the second hubs stepped his pinky toe out the door for work yesterday and I never looked back. Not that I thought he would hate it or not want to help, but because if it happened to look a hot mess or if I happened to hate it the second it was done, I didn't have to get that look. You know, the "I just helped you move all this furniture and now you want me to put it back the way it was, have you gone mad or something" look.
That one.

So I did it myself, and the truth is, besides finding a gum collection behind the bed on hubs side which caused me to gag 3 times-
and I wasn't going to share the pic at first, but you know how I likes to share. If you have a weak stomach, just scroll right on down, super-fast...

Hello my name is Mary Kathryn and I married a five-year old.
Thank goodness he's got that pretty face.
And a cute booty.
And those eyes.
Sorry, I digress...

...as I was saying, besides THAT, it all went smoothly.

And if you were looking super close, you may have noticed that I've been selling furniture and picking up/swapping a few pieces. In the last month, we've sold a bed, night stand, bookcase, and dresser, and picked up a super-yummy, curvy-in-the-front dresser off of craigslist for $60. (It's the one in the pic above with the tv on it)

So there ya have it.
"How I spent my Monday evening huffing and puffing and moving large pieces of furniture while my kiddos played in the next room".

I'll have an Easter weekend recap for ya tomorrow, but in the meantime, please tell me I'm not the only one to get a wild hair now and again and attempt something a little crazy, like moving an entire room of furniture while your spouse is gone. And also, was that the longest run-on sentence ever? Do I even remember what a run-on sentence is? Not sure. Anyway, it was a really long sentence.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, hubs was surprised when he got home (to say the least) and said he LOVED it.
whew.
That's 500 points for MK-
when I get to 1,000, I get to buy something else on craigslist.

So I met the Pioneer Woman

She's pretty.
So so pretty.
And gracious, and down-to-earth, and funny, and intelligent, and pretty, and witty, and just so so pretty.

There we are,
Ree and me.
I'm trying desperately to keep my composure and not say something stupid.
I babbled.
A lot.
I may have even said, "I worried all day that I'd say something stupid..."
I thanked her for coming to Alabama.
I thanked her for taking the time away from her kiddos to meet with crazed fans, like myself.
She liked my top.
She told me that one day she hoped to be brave enough to wear sleeveless.
She said I looked pretty.
That's when I wet myself.
Just a lil' bit.
I talked to Ree, y'all.

And, as if it weren't a big enough deal just to meet her, guess who else just so happened to gotten off of the elevator with her...

Allow me to give you the play-by-play since I was the crazy fan positioned on the other side of the doors just waiting to catch the first glipse of her as she got off and began her presentation. Picture me, stalking waiting patiently in front of those elevator doors, camera in one hand, phone in the other, in a slightly crouched position so as not to get pushed over or shoved outta my spot or anything. (I said I didn't want to SAY anything stupid, nevermind looking it...)

And then, the doors opened.
(these are a bit blurry, but they were in motion...)

See? Not kidding about stalking those doors. And do you SEEEE who that is in the plaid? It's totally Kevin of Kevin & Layla of the Lettered Cottage. Behind Kev (I call him Kev since we're BFF's now) was Ree...

and behind Ree was Layla of Kevin & Layla of the Lettered Cottage. I read their blog everyday as well, so you can imagine the puddle that formed when those doors opened.

And then, guess what?
Kev and Layla hung out by me during Ree's presentation.
Yup.
We're pals.

And Ree?
Well she gave one heckuva power-point presentation which she said would be a very brief summary of how she became The Pioneer Woman. It began like this...

and this...

and even after stating that she feels incredibly awkward and uncomfortable talking in front of large groups, she had, within an instant, captured all of us with her story-telling skills. I snapped about 472 more pics of her in front of the screen before remembering that my point-and-shoot is also a video camera.

and then, she sang.
To her dog.

After her fabulous presentation, they made us line up by number and thanks to my friend Brittni who went to BAM the previous day and picked up lucky #27, we were near the front of a massive crowd of Ree fans. See em?

After waiting in line and chatting and taking more photos, it was our turn.

There I am.
Babbling like an idiot.

There's Brittni and PW.
Thank you thank you Brittni for getting a number and for seeing my post about going to meet her and for letting us stand in line at #27 and not #338.

My friend, Cyndi, who's also a huge PW fan and who also offered to let me ride with her to the Ham.
Thank you thank you, Cyndi.
I had a blast last night and thanks to you, I didn't have to drive myself there which would've resulted in me getting lost 8 times and missing the whole shebang.

Brittni's friend, Jennifer, and her sweet lil' Anna with PW.

And then, my newest BFF's, Kevin and Layla, agreed to take a pic with me and my craziness.

And pictured below?
Well I just so happened to also meet Katherine of Grass Stains and Shaunna of Perfectly Imperfect.
What a night, y'all.

And just when I think I've made it through the evening without making a total fool of myself, Layla suggests we take a funny pic too,
and my crazy comes out...

if that wasn't enough to make you need some depends,
I did it again...

And that, my friends, was the end of an awesome evening.

Huge thanks also go to my mum who watched my kiddos last night.
Thank you thank you, mum.

Happy Thursday to ya!

Pioneer Woman comes to AL and a funny video

Yup.
She'll be comin' round the moutain when she comes.
The Queen of blogdom herself, Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman, will be in the fair city of Birmingham tonight to sign her new cookbook. The very same cookbook that I happened to have purchased for myself on Saturday.
Yup.
That Ree Drummond.

A huge thanks to my friend, Cyndi, for telling me about the book signin' in the first place and for offering me a ride! We're gonna hop over to the ham a few hours early and hope the line to meet her isn't like Wal-mart on Black Friday. Will any of you locals be there? Are any of you as worried as I am about being a blubbering idiot in front of the Pioneer Woman. Do any of you love her movie trivia games as much as I do? Or her salsa? Or, good heavens,
 her iced coffee?
Sheesh she's fab.
Here's hoping we actually get to meet her and get our books signed instead of being disappointed because 2,345,623 people showed up. I'll be posting updates on twitter for any inquiring minds...

And since I'm now sounding a bit like a 'crazed' fan instead of just a 'fan', I'll stop and change directions entirely.

Tonight, after a lovely birthday dinner with my family at the tree table of Iguana Grill, a moth flew in the door with us upon our return home.
This is what followed:

p.s.sorry for the snorting...

Happy Wednesday Friends!

A hodge-podge, April 2012 edition

First things first...
I am now 32 years young.
If hubs were here, he'd be quick to tell you that for the next 2 months, I'm five years older than he is.
Not four.
Funny hubs.
I spent the majority of Saturday afternoon strolling the aisles of Sam's with my girls- looking at books and movies, printing pictures, and of course sampling free food.

I promise that MM was happier than she looks. She's just upset because she ate her sample of french fries and wanted more. I'm holding a sample of stuffed salmon that was deeee-lish and we'd already consumed some crackers with garlic & herb cream cheese, cookies and cream chex mix, ham, fruit, and pizza.

Thank you Sams, from the bottom of my heart, for the free and well-balanced meal last Saturday. You totally rock.

And since it was my birthday, I treated myself to a couple new books. They weren't free, but Ree's latest cookbook retails for $30 and Sams sells it for $18. The Hunger Games People issue was also 30% off, so again, I say to you,
 Sams-
thank you for the bangin' good deals on these books.
I really appreciate it.

These also jumped into my cart.
Because they wanted to come home with me and live in my dining room along with the other white ceramic pretties there. These babies were a mere $30 for all 3, and THAT, my friends, you cannot beat with a stick. Do you hear me?
Not even a really big one.

***
I spent several hours of my weekend photographing products that I made for my shop's open house but never got around to listing online. I took photos of 68 products and stayed up til 12:30 am this morning after having only listed 10. Good GRAVY it takes a while, but, if you'd like to see what's new in the shop, click HERE. Mainly pillow covers & a few headbands with lots more to come as soon as I find a few extra hours...

***

In the past 2 weeks, we've sold a bed, night stand, bookcase, and changing table. Needless to say, we're making some ch-ch-ch-changes and I'm hoping to be able to share them soon. Still looking for one elusive piece of furniture to bring it all together...

***

For those of you interested, these are the new Matilda Jane pieces that are available as of yesterday-

For information on how to order, see THIS post, or simply contact me. I'll be glad to help ya.
*There are also 2 new adult pieces that will be available by mid-April but are currently stuck in customs I believe. It's a super cute tank & skirt, just FYI.*

***

I think that's all the news that is the news,
and-
if you follow me on twitter or instagram, thanks for all the congrats,
but,
I'm totally not prego.
It was a Taco Casa baby and it was also April 1st.
I blame hubs and his shenanigans for rubbing off on me.

Happy April 2nd to ya!
