Sometimes I get a wild hair

First off, before I explain the title, I hope all of you had a wonderful Easter weekend. We had lots of family time, complete with a huge egg hunt, hearing the Easter story (the REAL one), seeing the story acted out, a bunny made of bread, and a dip in the pool. More on our weekend tomorrow...

Today?

Today is about wild hairs.

Do you ever have the urge to do something a little crazy?

Something that maybe you've been thinking about for a while and finally you just couldn't wait another minute to see it through?

That was me, last night...

My bedroom went from this-



to this-

That's right.

I moved the furniture.

By myself.

I started the second hubs stepped his pinky toe out the door for work yesterday and I never looked back. Not that I thought he would hate it or not want to help, but because if it happened to look a hot mess or if I happened to hate it the second it was done, I didn't have to get that look. You know, the "I just helped you move all this furniture and now you want me to put it back the way it was, have you gone mad or something" look.

That one.

So I did it myself, and the truth is, besides finding a gum collection behind the bed on hubs side which caused me to gag 3 times-

and I wasn't going to share the pic at first, but you know how I likes to share. If you have a weak stomach, just scroll right on down, super-fast...

Thank goodness he's got that pretty face.

Sorry, I digress...

...as I was saying, besides THAT, it all went smoothly.

And if you were looking super close, you may have noticed that I've been selling furniture and picking up/swapping a few pieces. In the last month, we've sold a bed, night stand, bookcase, and dresser, and picked up a super-yummy, curvy-in-the-front dresser off of craigslist for $60. (It's the one in the pic above with the tv on it)

So there ya have it.

"How I spent my Monday evening huffing and puffing and moving large pieces of furniture while my kiddos played in the next room".

I'll have an Easter weekend recap for ya tomorrow, but in the meantime, please tell me I'm not the only one to get a wild hair now and again and attempt something a little crazy, like moving an entire room of furniture while your spouse is gone. And also, was that the longest run-on sentence ever? Do I even remember what a run-on sentence is? Not sure. Anyway, it was a really long sentence.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, hubs was surprised when he got home (to say the least) and said he LOVED it.

First off, thank you SO much for all of your kind words about my new venture. I'm pretty excited myself and have already made several sales, and for that I am SO grateful. God has provided a wonderful way to sell stuff to the internets for those of us who, well.... just can't seem to stop making stuff. And no, I didn't list any of my other goods yesterday because a) it wasn't prime picture taking weather, and b) I played with my kids instead. Maybe today...
Now- onto the subject at hand.

Ever since I developed a love for white ceramic animals, I've had my eye on this guy. We have this blank wall space in between the two closets in the master that was screaming out for....something. I could've gone the way of the ever popular sunburst mirror, but I couldn't get Moe outta my head.

Why Moe?

 Couldn't say.

He just seemed like a Moe to me...

Remember back in,

oh,................I don't know,

APRIL

of this year when I posted about updates I'd made in the master bedroom?

Like new bedding and lamps?

Well, 3 days after that post,

we had a storm,

I had a bit of surgery,

we moved in with my in-laws for 10 days,

moved back into our house,

and put ALL of our attention on the kitchen,

which you can read about HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Finally, yes, FINALLY I've gotten around to completing some of the many projects I'd planned to do way back when.

The first of which was curtains.

Or drapes, if you're uppity.

You know I'm cheap, so even though IKEA sells some fantastic AND inexpesive curtain panels, I set out to find a way to make them even cheaper.

Enter sheets:

King flat sheets, to be exact, from Target.

They cost a whopping 16.99 a piece, and measure 108" x 102".

Hmmm...I says to myself-

If I cut those babies into thirds, I'd have 6 panels.

Then I gave myself a pat on the back, threw 2 flat sheets into my red buggy, and strolled straight over to Starbucks & bought myself a white mocha for being so good at math.

After finishing my white mocha, I measured my sheets and cut them into 3 equal strips.

I folded over the edges that  had been cut and pressed down a 1" seam-

then I stitched each of those rough edges.

Enter curtain hanging devices:

I picked up 3 cheap-o spring rods and some drapery rings-

(We have window boxes in the master, so I didn't need to buy decorative curtain rods since they wouldn't be seen)

Here's a 'before':

See the pretty white boxes?

They came with the house and so far I haven't hated them enough to rip them down.

I opened up the drapery rings and placed them equally (or semi-equally) along the tops of each panel, then slid two panels onto each spring rod-

and this was the result:

Before:

complete with messy pile of hangers and a stack of empty shoe boxes...

After:

No, I haven't hemmed them yet.

Yes, they desperately need to be steamed.

No, that art work above the bed no longer matches the bedding.

Yes, I already have a DIY in the works to replace it.

No, we don't have a babe sleeping in that pac-n-play every night.

Yes, we keep it in here for days when the girls would rather talk and sing to each other than nap. Seperate rooms to nap in has kept us sane.

Yes, that's an ab roller in the bottom of the pic.

No, I don't use it much, unfortunately.

So, whatcha think of my sheet curtains?

I'd already put them on my kids, so I figured,

why not the windows?

fabric won't hurt you, unless of course it's ugly and fashioned into some sort of atrocity on someone's body. Then, I suppose, it could blind you, but you can't walk around with your eyes closed.

Our new bedroom scheme needs a splash of brightness, so that ultra-classic plaid RL bolster is about to become a yummy pumpkin orange. It's ultra-suede, by the way, and feels so good I want to drape it all over my body.
