2012 National Champions

We did it.

Again.

Going to work on very little sleep was totally worth it today. Such a great game and a fun night. Here are a few of my favorite images after last nights game, most of which were found on good ole' Facebook.

Roll Tide, y'all.

And, if you just can't get enough Roll Tide-ness, here are the headlines from several newspapers across the country.

Shop talk

It's "Show us what you make/sell" day over at Kelly's blog, so I figured I'd do a quick shop update and link up! I have some new goodies to show you, so let's get to it! (And if you landed over here from over there, then WELCOME! I have an etsy shop where I sell hair accessories, pillow covers, notecards, pennant banners, and Christmas stockings, as well as plenty of houndstooth/crimson goodies for my fellow Tide fans. You can see the items I currently have listed by clicking HERE.)

First off, I'm loving these hair accessories I made out of Matilda Jane garment bags! Each piece of clothing comes in a cute mesh bag, so I figured I'd try my hand at putting them to good use-

I currently have 10 different styles on a variety of hair clips and stretchy headbands. My model prefers the headbands-

Football season officially kicks off TOMORROW, so I'd thought I'd do a little collage of Roll Tide goodies I have on hand-

and a little something for the Auburn fans...

Here's a few other items I have on hand (some are listed in the shop and some are custom pieces. If you have questions or would like to place a custom order, you can email me at funnygirl33180(at)aol(dot)com. And yes, I'm one of the last humans on earth to still have an aol account.)

Mini flower clips- $3

set of 6 notecards- $5

need an accessory to match a certain outfit? I do custom orders...

The mini-cluster headband (above) also comes in 6 other colors...

I also make custom sashes for parties, showers, graduations, and Thursdays.
This is my seester who will soon be "Mrs. Clark"in the sash I made for her Bachelorette Weekend.

If you have any hair accessory, or sofa accessory, or mantel accessory needs, or perhaps you need monogrammed notecards, or a houndstooth clip for your lapel, then I'm your gal. Feel free to browse my shop & happy Friday!

Giveaway: D's Stitches

Happy Monday to you, friends! I'm so thrilled to host a giveaway this week for a fabulous etsy shop located right here in my home state of Alabama. Danielle of D's Stitches has some of the cutest mongrams & appliques to personalize anything from onesies and t-shirts to dish towels and bloomers! She sent shirts for each of my kiddos and not only do I love them, but my kids are thrilled with them as well. Know what we call that, friends? A win/win. Take a look...

I'm so thrilled to have new shirts that the kiddos will actually look forward to wearing, because if you have kids, then you've probably already experienced the whines that are brought on by trying to force something on their bodies that they're not keen on. Follow me? My kids started putting up a fight before age 2 about what they would/would NOT wear to the point of tears, tantrums, and hair loss. Well, that last one was just me, but I think I've proved my point. Thank you Danielle, from the bottom of my heart, for these shirts that will put a smile on their faces each and every time I pull them out of the closet.

A few of my other faves from Danielle's shop are the mustache onesie:

these sweet bloomers that can be personalized with a monogram or name:

and these fab linen tea towels that would make great gifts for friends, teachers, or yourself:

She also has Disney appliques as well as Roll Tide and War Eagle gear, and oh so much more. There are also additional product pics on her facebook page HERE.

***

Danielle is generously offering a shirt, onesie, or towel from her shop and there are 3 ways to enter. You could do just one, but wouldn't you rather have more chances to win?

Here's what ya do:

1. Visit her shop, D's Stitches, and favorite it by clicking on the heart under her shop header (leave a comment on THIS BLOG POST that you have)

2. Visit her facebook page and 'like' it (leave a comment on THIS BLOG POST that you have)

3. Leave a comment on THIS BLOG POST with your favorite item from her shop

**As always, giveaways here are for Mathews Family Happenings subscribers. Not a subscriber? It's easy!

I'll leave this giveaway open until Sunday night and will post the winner (chosen through random.org) on Monday.  Remember to leave a seperate comment for each entry that you do! I'll be back tomorrow and Wednesday with a few 'how-to's' from the party.

Good Luck!

ROOOOOOOLLLLLL TIDE ROLL!!!

It may be raining in Tuscaloosa right now, but I geh-rohn-TEE you can't dampen the spirits of the TIDE fans! Last night, Alabama brought home it's 14th National Championship. That's more than any other school, just in case you didn't know.

Alabama 21 - LSU 0

Awesome game.
Awesome team.
Awesome coach.
Awesome fans.
LOTS of awesomeness going on.

The game was broadcast on ESPN and I can't write about it without talking about Erin Andrews attire.
A buttercream pantsuit with a purple blouse?
Really?

Yes, those are LSU's team colors, but the outfit itself wasn't even pretty. Next time Erin, ya might want to try wearing some Crimson & white.
Just sayin'.

Another interesting tidbit: LSU only crossed the 50 yard line ONCE in the entire game. Can you say defense? I also heard that this is the first shut-out EVAH in BCS National Championship history. Anyone know if this is true? I'm gonna go ahead and say it is...

It was so cool to immediately hear the screams/shouts/celebratory HOO-RAHS of our neighbors after the game from our own living room! I can't imagine what the atmosphere was like on campus. Had to have been downright crazy! We also heard fireworks. Lots of fireworks. Folks also started to post pictures of the crowds lined up at sporting goods shops all over town. I imagine most of the people in my town had a very late night.

Of course, I immediately got to craftin'. Nevermind that it was after 11 pm when I stopped watching the trophy hoisting and the speech giving.

This was first-
just a simple glittery '14' added to one of my flowers-

I also made a super-quick wreath by wrapping crimson flannel around my Christmas yarn wreath from 2 years ago. (I just cut the rosettes off of it) I free-handed a big '14' out of cardboard, covered it in houndstooth felt, and then hot glued the numbers to the wreath.
Easy peasy lemon squeazy.

I didn't really think about selling the wreaths but I've already had a request for one, so if you're interested just shoot me an email. I'll be glad to whip up a few more. As for other Roll Tide awesomeness, you can shop my store HERE for flower pins, headbands, hair clips, houndstooth pennant banners, and soon to come *new* pillow covers in houndstooth and elephant print. In the meantime, I hope you're having a fabulous Tuesday friends!

Roll Tide y'all

The big game is tonight!
Will you be watching?

You know where my loyalty lies, so I just have to share the fact that I came across a poll on one of the sports sites where I grabbed those two pics and guess what it said?

Out of those who have voted so far, 83.6% predict a Bama win!
Roll Tide to that.

I've been sewing my fingers off making houndstooth & crimson goodies!

Pillow covers, head bands, pins, clips, and *new* mini clips

Not all of these items are listed in my shop yet-
If you're local and would like something ASAP, just let me know.

In the meantime, I hope you're having a fabulous Monday!

And I have to throw one more ROLL TIDE out there.

ROLL TIDE.

(okay...two more)
