A little Fall-ness

Since blogland is in full-out throw-those-Fall-goodies-up-on-that-mantel-and-on-that-front-door-and-craft-some-Fall-ish-stuff-NOW mode, I thought I'd throw together a little post about some Fall goodies that I made.

Last year.

And the year before.

Because I'm currently in the midst of a 3-jobs-at-once type situation, and while I'd love to be craftin' up a storm with the rest of you, the only storm I'm seeing seems to have just passed through my house. As in, parts of it are a wreck.

Blargh.

2011 Halloween Decor

yup.

Halloween decor.

I loves me some black + orange strewn about the walls and table tops and whatnots. Almost as much as I loves me some Christmas decor, but nothing tops a nativity, am I right? Christmas wins, but Halloween is a close second. Not that we go all 'ghoulish' with the ghosts and goblins and creepies and yuckies. No, we're not of the scary-spooky-make-small-children-cry type of Halloween around here, not at all. But the subtle spiders and the flying bats and the perky pumpkins?

Yup.

That's us.

Here's a peek at how I subtly spookified our hizzy this year-

No, I didn't lose my mind and paint 'Happy Halloween' on the wall. I picked up two large rolls of vinyl decals at the after Halloween sale last year at Target and Oliver and I went to town with those babies. Handing my 6-year old a sheet of stickers and telling him "it's okay to put these on the wall", was pretty much equal to me giving him 3 cupcakes, 2 pixie sticks, and a red bull.

Crazy-happy-hyperactivity ensued.

The best kind.

Yes, more creepy cloth.

I mentioned my love for this stuff, yes?

Want to see what made O excited to help me even before I pulled the stickers out? It was this...

A plastic spider that he found in his room. He immediately came to me and said it would make an awesome decoration.

And so it has.

Traveling from the foyer to the dining room,

you guessed it,

more stickers.

And really, who doesn't want bats flying out of their bridal portrait?

Since Oliver couldn't quite reach that high, he opted to put his pumpkins here.

Yes, that's a Hi-C juice box in the doorway.

Just couldn't be bothered to pick it up, what with my picture-taking and all...

Stepping into the Living Room/playroom, this is now the scene, even though I'd only just finished my Fall mantel last week.

Again, couldn't be bothered to bend all the way down to pick up that light saber.

Bats flying out of the lamps?

Sounds good to me.

Also pulled out my 'Got Candy' banner from last year.

So glad it survived an entire year in the top of the pantry.

The banner was inspired by Shelly's lovely Halloween decor-

just a bit of brown craft paper and letters printed on cardstock.

O added more creepy crawlies to the fireplace,

and to the back door-

and the black sparkle pumpkins are from the dollah spot at Target, even though they're actually 2.50. It's the only moolah I spent this year on decor, so I'm okay with it.

And in other news,

I added two new Missoni items to my collection.

It's a sickness I tell you...

This is the throw my aunt picked up for me at her Target in TN-

(And yes, I finally got around to cleaning off the dining room table. No more craft explosions going on in there.)

The other Missoni I picked up is kinda, well....

skivvies.

As in underoos, and a tee-tiny lil' tank.

Black and white zigs.

Fabulousness.

I'm really hoping to list the items I came home with from the craft fair on etsy this week. I've been told it's super easy, so I'm clinging to that...

Also have lots of pins + headbands, like the one I put on my lil' cutie last night at dinner. She thought she looked smashing.

So- that's a little bit of Halloween decor with some random thrown in. I was also curious to see what my mantel looked like last year since I couldn't quite remember... so I pulled up a pic:

WAY different.

Also, busier- yes?

And the gold could-be-used-as-weapons log holders were there.

Ah well...

 I hope you're having a fabulous day whenever it is that you read this! O and I are going on a field trip tomorrow (thursday) and I think I'm as excited as he is.

Hope your weekend was smashing!

Wanted to post some pics of the craft fair and tell you what an amazing experience it was. Loved seeing all of the other booths and talking with some of the other crafters. One of them even turned out to be someone I went to college with! Had a wonderful day with my aunt and ate some delicious food.
Too much delicious food, says the button on my jeans...

The hubs built the bases for those posts that are holding some of my banners. I'll tell ya more about that soon...

So that's my booth!

A big, huge THANK YOU to my aunt for talking to me about having a booth in the first place, AND to those of you who came to see me! I can't tell you how much it meant! A big huge thanks to my seester for bringing me coffee, and a big huge thanks to Merrill who is away at college but reads my blog and sent her parents! They were actually my first sale of the day, and I admit, when they told me what they wanted, I was a bit dumb-founded for a minute. I was so excited just to be there and to have completed so many projects that I didn't really think through the actual 'selling' of the items. I had no change! No nothing! It was just such a pleasant surprise each time someone made a purchase. (Thanks also to my mum who bought the most..haha) Seriously. And I love the fact that one of the women who bought a flower pin put in on before she even left the fair.

Loved.

Wonderful experience.

Planning to do it again.

Much thanks to my hubs for his help in the cutting, building, and stapling department.

The craftiest night in the history of the universe

So...

it was my plan to post everyday this week as party prep took place and as decor went up.

But let's be real.

I'm a mom.

Of three.

Plans don't always work out...

HOWEVER,

I will share with you some of the many projects that were started AND FINISHED yesterday/last night/in the wee hours of the morn...

I made a dress.

And I'm NOT a seamstress.

I've never ever in the history of my life sewn a dress from start to finish before.

I have no clue if this will fit E, seeing as how she was fast asleep at 2am when I finished it, but I'll let you know how that comes out.

Did you hear me?

I made a dress.

(still kind of in shock that my dress actually looks like a dress)

Here's the cute book where I found the pattern for the dress that I MADE-

And, since the dress came out so darn cute,

I made a pillow cover for the bedroom.

(The sofa in the living room is about to get a splash of chevron too...)

Did I mention that I made a dress?

And since that just wasn't enough,

the hubs needed his name patches sewn onto his work shirts.

5 mintues- DONE

And, since I was on a roll...

I made 2 batches of the Pioneer Woman's salsa with the help of a cute little 6-year old.

It's the best.

And I mean that.

Did you know I make dresses?

Also...still working on the decorations for MM's Very Hungry Caterpillar table.

Started this food bunting last night that I straight up copied out of MM's little board book.

I'll share ALL the details for the party once I can actually photograph the tables with food on them. Right now they're pretty, but all of the dishes are empty, and who wants to see empty dishes?

So-

to recap,

yesterday I did a bit of sewing,

chopping/blending,

and paper-crafting.

That's a trifecta, folks.

A crafting trifecta.

actually I haven't the foggiest what that means,

I'm a little loopy from the non-sleep I've been doing lately so I'll take this as my cue to go to bed.

(yes, I'm posting this at 3:10 am)
