bring on the fall...

Love that it's the perfect weather to head straight to the 'playground' in the backyard after school. Oliver and Eliza rode their cars and big wheels while I strolled MM. She even tolerated my nifty sling for a bit.

Beautiful day.
Perfect weather.

Hello Fall.

weekend recap

So...this actually took place Thursday. Mary Martin had her 4-month check up. Here she is with Dr. Joseph (love her) and as you can tell, she was no longer to keen on being poked and prodded. She was all smiles until the blasted ear-lookey-in thingy. (know what I'm talkin about?) Anyway, she clearly didn't want anyone poking around in her ears, so from that point on, she was NOT a happy camper. (the fact that she had to get 2 shots and an oral vaccine didn't help either) She fell asleep waiting on the nurses to give her the shots. Poor baby....
Friday night we went to dinner at Fernando's Mexican restaurant with all 3 kiddos and a majority of the cast of Hairspray. Fun times and good food..... what more could we ask for? Eliza ate her weight in rice and beans which made for a pretty gnarly diaper the next day, but..... whatcha gonna do?
here's part of our party of 20+ people...

Joey and Alisha Lay

Johnathon Lyons and Katie Hicks

Friday (Oct 1) Holt High School had an alumni luncheon where my Dad, his brothers and sister were all honored with the alumni of the year awards. SO glad I was able to rearrange some classes to be there. They were each introduced with quite a hefty list of accomplishments, and I couldn't help but think how proud my grandparents would have been seeing all of their children recognized in such a way.

Friday night, I picked up my new glasses. Now, i know this hardly seems newsworthy, but I haven't had NEW glasses in 13 years. No, that's not a typo.... I actually did mean to type 13. That's right folks, the last time I bought glasses, I was 17 and a junior in high school. Since I really only wear them at night, I've gotten by with the old ones for so long, BUT, I just spent 3 weeks without any contacts and HAD to wear those glasses to read, drive, and just see in general, so it was time. I really like them. They are transitions, and for those of you who don't wear glasses, this means that they will (semi) become sunglasses when I'm outside and it's sunny, but "normal" glasses any other time. (this makes me feel a little bit uppity, not even gonna lie. also....the commercial for transitions lenses is pretty glamorous. Lots of 'pretty' people who all just happen to have bad eyesight. Have you seen it?)

Late Friday night my friend Courtney and her husband Thomas welcomed their first baby girl into the world. I went Saturday morning to see them and she is GORGEOUS. Miss Lucy has a FULL head of beautiful dark hair! I didn't get a good pic of her because I turned the flash off. Didn't want to startle....
Congrats Thomas and Courtney!!!

Alabama beat Florida. BIG time. We watched the game at Kent and Mary Katherine's house Saturday night (sorry for the blurry tv pic) and it was pretty late when we drove home.

We had 2 out of 3 kiddos fast asleep before we were home. Eliza somehow managed to stay awake...

Sunday was also a beautiful day, a little cooler....
We ate lunch at Mannie and Grandaddy's after church. Not sure how i managed to not take a single pic.
Hmmmm.........
PTO concert tonight at school with 2nd graders and Taco Night at Carol and Ed's. Happy Monday everyone!

she actually fell alseep right before the nurses came in. Didn't have a clue what was coming and then.....BAM!

atleast she won't remember today.
Oliver and Eliza were both outside with Ma'am when I brought MM home. Fun times in the dirt piles in the driveway!!! Who needs a sandbox? Huh? That's right......... we got DIRT!!!

(seriously though....how cute are these pictures???)

Also...redesigned the ole' blog. Whatcha think?

how could I forget....

that this precious baby girl turned 4 months old yesterday. She smiles ALL THE TIME and I love it. So happy....laughing, talking, watching, holding....

beautiful baby girl.

Worked on a little more Halloween decor tonight. Here's a pic of how the mantle looks at the moment. I still have the beginnings of a triangle banner and a 'got candy?' banner that need to be finished. Am planning on posting DIY instructions for both...
(closer shot of the mantle. sillhouette's were added tonight with the help of my cricut)
And here's my entryway table. Also have more to add to this space. Did I mention how much I LOVE decorating for the holidays???

And....here's a closer peek. Love the boy and girl in costume (thank you cricut) and the halloween definitions from House of 3....

oh yeah.....
did you see THIS last night???
Britney on Glee????
(awesomeness. pure awesomeness)

4 things....

1. Hairspray closed. I honestly had a fabulous time and already miss all of those involved. I can't put into words what it was like to be on stage again. I am TRULY blessed that my husband and my children's grandmothers were willing to help out and feed, bathe, and put to bed my babies so that I could do this. This is me as Velma with Alisha (Tracy). I also credit this show with helping me shed about 20 more pounds of post-pregnancy weight. I am currently wearing a pair of jeans that are some of my favorites from BEFORE I had the girls. That's right folks, PRE-pregnancy jeans. Alisha's fabulous choreography in the show literally made the weight drop off. (hoo-RAH)

here's me and baby girl at Target last night buying a butt-load of groceries. This was my first monday night off in a bazillion years.... so of course i had to go to my favorite place. (Also we were out of bread, peanut butter, lunch snacks, and FOOD) While the show was going on, I literally bought only what we HAD to have for school lunches, night-time bottles, etc. We are now completely and totally restocked. (whew)

2. My shoes died today. And no I don't mean broke. When you say, broke, there's usually a chance that said object can be fixed. My shoes died. They are, in fact, in our kitchen trash can as I type this. I can't be too upset, however, since I have owned them since college and had really neglected them as of late. I mean, let's face it- you can't (or shouldn't) wear platforms when you're pregnant, so they really haven't been stepping out a lot lately. In fact, the most action they've seen as of late is being carried room to room by a 16-month old. (Eliza took a liking to them, and really....who can blame her?) So....

"Good-bye 11-year old BCBG shoes from TJMaxx. You will be missed"

( here's a closer shot of the hot mess they became while I was at work today. that's masking tape you see holding that heel together. There are literally pieces of them all over my classroom floor ) sniffle....

3. I grew my nails out for Velma and will be saying adios to them tonight. I broke one during the run of the show, and another last night. Ah well....they were pretty while they lasted, but they ain't ME. (totally Velma though)

4. It's taco night.....
which also means the house will be full of boys. In fact, when Clay told Oliver we'd be eating tacos tonight, he immediately said, "who's coming over?" hahahaha
(any girls want to come play with me?)

Hairspray!

tonight was the first night of auditions for Hairspray with the ACT (Actor's Charitable Theatre). I am co-directing with Joey Lay since he will actually be in the show as Edna, AND will also be getting married in a few weeks to the show's choreographer, Alisha Powell, (who is also playing the role of Tracy). So, SO excited for them both. I have known Joey since he was an 8th grader at HMS, and met Alisha 3 years ago when we worked on Seussical together. Could not be happier for them and I'm really looking forward to working on this show with them too. I get a little stir-crazy when I'm away from the theatre for too long.

Welcome to the sixties............

8 months...

and SO much has happened. I thought I could keep up with the blog and a job and two kids and the laundry and be pregnant, but alas..... I could NOT. I'm hoping that this new handy dandy laptop I'm currently typing on will help me keep up a little better with the blogging.

We are now a family of 5
Her name is Mary Martin
She is beautiful
More catching up to come...
