A Hot Mess...

is what we've got going on in the bedroom. My closets have, ummm....exploded. This is what happens when A) you've been pregnant for 2 years in a row and have a plethora, yes a PLETHORA of sizes in your closet. There's the comfy not-really-maternity-clothes-but-almost category, the I-hope-to-be-this-skinny-again-someday category that of course I'm hanging on to because, well....I'm still holding onto the chance that I can lose more weight, and the newly-purchased-in-my-current-size clothes. They're everywhere now. Everywhere. I need to have some major clean-out this weekend, and you know what? That excites me to no end. I used to clean out and re-organize my closet for fun all the time when I was in high school. Yep. That was me. But I digress....see that ginormous Lego spaceship on the dresser? It's there because a little one-year old is really into demolition mode on anything that can come apart, so this is its new (temporary) home since it can no longer live on the hearth in the den. The shoes spilling out of the closet on the right? Remember that one-year old? She loves shoes, and really...who can blame her? We find our shoes all over the house in the most random places, and sometimes, just sometimes when we go to get dressed we can't find our shoes at all. Fun times. Here's hoping for some good clean-out and organizational time this weekend in the midst of homecoming, Kentuck, grand opening at Belk, Disney Princesses at Toys R Us, etc............. Just had to share this pic with you. Oliver came in our room as Mary Martin was just waking up this morning. So precious. The biggest grin spread across her face when she saw him.
A popular blog series that I've come across is "What I Wore Wednesday", so.... here's my version on Thursday. Dressed in some newly-purchased-in-my-current-size clothes from The Limited, belt from Target, and a rosette bib necklace from ebay.

Close-up of the necklace and my wet hair.

Remember my little shoe diva? I found this clog much later in the kitchen in front of the dryer.

Happy almost-Friday everyone!

What I'm reading...

This book is amazing. If you've never read it, I strongly urge you to pick up a copy. It's been out a few years now, so you could find one pretty cheaply on ebay, or if you live near me you can borrow my copy. Seriously. Even though we, as Christians, know that Jesus died for us on the cross, this book goes so much deeper into the reasons and meaning for every single detail of Jesus' crucifixion. Such a powerful read. Max Lucado is truly a gifted writer. I have a feeling this will be a book I read over and over and over....
Are YOU reading any good books/magazines at the moment?

Happy Columbus Day and such

So...Columbus Day was actually yesterday- Happy man-discovered-our-land-and made-the-Indians-mad-day! Hoo-rah!!!

I kid....
Forgot to mention in my last post that little man has his first loose tooth. Not quite sure if it became loose on its own or if the Jedi knocked it loose with all his shenanigans... either way- he can wiggle it with his tongue and is super excited about that. I'm excited as well, but it's just a reminder to me that he's getting older. Since we were out of school yesterday, we had lots of fun company. Ma'am, Pop, and MawMaw all came over to see the kiddos. Love love the pics of Dad pushing O on the swing. Think this one's my favorite.
Ate dinner last night at White MawMaw's house. Eliza ate 3 times during the course of our visit. How is she so tiny???

E also discovered MawMaw's dolls for the first time. An entire wall of them. She went a little crazy holding her hands up and asking for, "baby? baby?...." She wanted to hold ALL of them. Maxine at least a hundred porcelain dolls on custom shelves in their office. Not unlike the Barbie room I dream of having some day....
Here's E with one of her faves.

And MM liked them too. Not gonna lie....that dolls face scared me. Really.

Had a little (no, a lot) of spit-up down the back this morning. That was the overflow from what was on ME. I mean, just imagine it. Gross. Kinda glad I was still in my nightgown.

Here's the culprit.
(her inner monologue right now it, "Did I do that?")

Remember my ginormous stack of little girl clothes from Old Navy on super-clearance? Well here's a boy pile I picked up yesterday. O's sizes weren't on super clearance, but still on sale so it was worth it. Especially since he won't have to flood anymore. Clay even asked him a couple days ago if he was ready for the flood (since his pants were 2 inches too short) and he had no idea what to say. Why would he? He's five. Anyway....sufficient to say....he's grown a LOT since last year. He has legs that go on for miles. Really. Not making it up.
Also scored some great deals for my cousin who is having a baby in February. (Hope you're not reading this Laura, but if you are- Surprise!)
Picked these up at Target last night. Gave em a try this morning, and I'm happy to report that they're not gross. Quite good actually. If you love pumpkin pie, then these poptarts are for you. And if you don't like pumpkin pie, you should probably just keep on moving.

I was really hoping to post pics from the mini bathroom makeover today but Sams photo lab has been down since Saturday, so I drove all the way there yesterday to pick up NOTHING. Thanks Sams. Thanks for telling me your machines were all broken while I was standing there re-sizing and editing and ordering, thinking I'd have photos by now when I don't. Thanks.
They're supposed to be up and running by tomorrow so hopefully I'll have pics tomorrow night of the 60's pink and green bathroom, that's still pink and green, only prettier now.

weekend recap

And the most fabulous bed-head award for Saturday, October 9, 2010 goes to...

Eliza!!! I'm working on mini bathroom makeover and Clay put together a cabinet for me yesterday.
He also had a helper.

She's just tightening up those screws a bit...
The guys came over yesterday to eat tacos and watch the game.
At least one of those things turned out well.
Darn good tacos.

Mary Martin watched the game with her mamma.

Well poop. Can't figure out how to rotate this now that I've downloaded. This is an iphone photo taken today from a dressing room at the Limited. I'd just like to share with you, internet, that my sister and I are now wearing the same size. Hoo to the rah.

Also did a little shopping at Old Navy today. Went a little haywire in the little girls department, but......

it's okay. Know why? All of the children's clearance items are now an additional 50% off. That's right folks. Run, don't walk. (adults clearance is currently 40% already reduced items). See this ginormous stack of girls clothing and shoes? Guess how much I paid. Go ahead. Guess.
50 bucks. That's right internet. Just 50 buckaroos for 3 dresses, 1 swimsuit, 1 pair of shoes, 2 pairs of pants, 2 jumpsuits, 2 pairs of pjs, and 2 shirts. yep. That's a lot of stuff. Gotta love Old Navy. (Going back tomorrow to buy little boy clothes. Don't worry- I didn't forget about O man.)

These two had some kind of fun in Clay's hamper tonight.
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times.
Kids always have the most fun playing with things that aren't even toys.
Seriously.

And here's a picture of me and baby girl. Hope you had a fabulous weekend too. I'm off to watch Mad Men.

A few things....

just finished seeing this movie with some friends tonight. No one's going to win any acting awards for this, but I really enjoyed it. I laughed out loud.....a LOT. I cried. A LOT. If you have children, this movie will make you want to run, not walk, to grab them up and love on them after you see it. The award for the funniest character goes to Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) for some fabulous one-liners, and I was excited to see Christina Hendricks (Joan on Mad Men), although her role is short-lived. Literally. All in all.....good, funny, romantic comedy with some deepness to it. (image from Fandango)
Here we are after the show- Jennifer, Jamie, Melanie, Jennifer, Kara, and Me
This was our morning. SO thankful to have the day off. Here's all 3 kiddos watching Sesame Street. (that's super Grover....just in case you didn't know)
Pulled this out today after Eliza kept wanting to play in my REAL jewelry and she LOVED it. I mean, really loved it. These were all the rage when I was in elementary school- I remember collecting the charms and talking with my friends about which ones we had and which ones we wanted.....we were so cool. (still are, actually) They were pretty much the silly bandz of the mid-eighties. She loved looking at each charm....when she came across the baby bottle, she drank it. Then offered it to me, cause she's sweet like that. Loved watching her have so much fun with something from my own childhood. Very cool.

Finally put some fishing line through my awesome "Got Candy" banner and hung it on the mantle. Not bad for a free project, huh? All it took was a little brown packing paper (you know the kind that comes on the giant roll? Sold at Hobby Lobby in the framing dept and Target on the aisle with the packing tape and boxes), some letters I printed off of the computer (mine are the monogram letters from House of 3, but you could also use any from Word), a little dab of glue from my super-duper mini glue gun, and some fishing line. The base is strips of paper about 3 inches wide and 3 1/2 feet long, folded like a fan and then glued together at the ends to make a circle. Then just glue your letters on top of that, and Voila! You have a banner! (Also picked up some new leaves/berries from Hob Lob today for 50% off. They're in the black vase on the end. Love em.)

I caught Eliza making faces in the trash can today. Priceless.

Sometimes things just take my breath away. This is Oliver's current work in progress at his art station on the dining room table.
Such sweetness.

these pumpkins are from Clanton...

wowza am I tired. And sunburned. And stinky.

But by-golly-miss-molly did we ever have fun at the pumpkin patch today. Rode all the way to Clanton, AL on a school bus.

Petting zoo, bouncy thingys, hayride, actual REAL pumpkin patch. (we came home with 2 beauties) Amazing sunflower fields, beautiful blue skies, stinky (but cute) animals.

Good, good day with my O man.

Just love this shot of him running to pick out his pumpkin.
One of his favorite things was playing on this hay mountain.
